Los Angeles, CA

A 19,500 square foot lot in Lincoln Heights was divided into 9 sites for 9 individual single-family dwellings. The severe hillside site dictated a terraced scheme solution for the small lot subdivision project. The homes are strategically clustered and terraced to take advantage of views of Downtown Los Angeles. The simplicity of the building form takes clues from the familiar gabled roof typology that is familiar to the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. The iconic imagery of the familiar is reinterpreted for the 21st century. Open plan layouts extend to outdoor spaces that are carved into the hillside. The project provides much needed affordable housing for Los Angeles.
